Volunteering at Habitat for Humanity

One of our core values at SE Mutual is: Community. We strive in supporting local communities and groups through financial giving and volunteering. SE Mutual has set a goal to achieve 1,000 volunteer hours by 2023. We believe that volunteering as a team is a great opportunity to meet new people and develop new skills and interests all while contributing to the growth of our community.

Habitat for Humanity is a non-profit organization with a very clear vision: to live in a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. They offer programs to help support their home building costs with the goal to help build new homes for hard-working and low-income families in need. Habitat for Humanity’s most recent build project is a new single-family bungalow in Dieppe that is set to be fully built by the end of November 2021. Those who will occupy this beautiful home is the El-Terek family, a family of 10 who moved to Moncton in 2016. Did you know: Supported by hundreds of volunteers and community members, Habitat Moncton has accommodated 33 Habitat homeowners locally since its incorporation.

The SEM staff had a great opportunity to participate and volunteer with Team Build Day where they helped with priming, painting, spreading topsoil, and assisted in building a baby barn. The team worked alongside the building manager for both days and were able to accomplish more than originally planned for the Team Build Day.
